The T1 document is regularly used in air transport, especially when the recipient of the shipment wishes to go through their usual customs agent to proceed with the clearance of the shipment at the destination.

What are the important tips for preparing and closing a T1?

Information needed to open a T1:

  • Details of the destination customs office
  • Commercial invoice
  • Packing list
  • AWB with freight amount
  • Delivery charges
  • Details to mention on the T1 (recipient of the goods)

 What information not to overlook?

  • Sender’s name and country of origin
  • Recipient’s name and country of destination within Europe
  • Commercial value / currency used
  • Nature of the goods
  • Customs code (HS code)

Advice for express delivery: provide clear instructions to the driver about the delivery and any customs stop to be made on the route: exact address, documents to present, contact person at the declarant’s, final delivery address. It is advisable to inform the express taxi company of the expected waiting time at the customs stop.

  • Recipient’s name and contact person in the customs or logistics department
  • EORI number
  • VAT number
  • Power of Attorney (POA)
  • T1 document, commercial invoice, packing list, transport amount
