China holidays start this Friday 29/09
Air Time Critical® reminds you that public holidays in China start this Friday, 29 September 2023 and continue till 6 October included. Are you prepared?
Currently, manufacturers and freight forwarders are running at full capacity to get the shipments to their clients before the holidays. Apple, HP, and other electronics producers are currently shipping a large number of their products. The lack of transport capacity during the traditional peak season drives up prices and transit times.

What about other Asian countries?
China is not the only country in Asia that will be affected by public holidays during this period. Even though their impact on logistics is much smaller, see below a summary of holidays in other Asian countries.
- Hong Kong:
Mid-Autumn festival is celebrated in Hong Kong on 29 – 30 September. As China’s National Day falls on Sunday, the following Monday, October 3, is a public holiday.
- South Korea
South Korea will celebrate Chuseok, often called Korean Thanksgiving, between 28 – 30 September and National Foundation Day on 3 October.
- Taiwan
Taiwan also celebrates the Mid-Autumn festival on 29 September. Taiwan National Day, also called Double Tenth Day, is celebrated the 9 – 10 October.
Logistics restrictions
- Next Flight Out:
Customs offices are open every day in Hong Kong (HKG), Shanghai (PVG) and Beijing (PEK). However, in case of further inspection (shipment or documents) by customs office, it will be postponed after the holidays. Availability of flights is very limited.
- On Board Courier
No restrictions for customs via Hong Kong (HKG). Customs closed during the holidays at PEK airport and long-term closure continues at PVG airport. Subject to flight, ticket and courier availability at the time of booking.
